The Center of Brain Research of the Medical University of Vienna is proud to announce a big celebration event on Friday, March 14th 2025 - The Neuroscience Day 2025!

We have not only to celebrate our 25th anniversary but also the start of two big collaborations founded by the FWF (Austrian Science Fund):

  • Start of the FWF Cluster of Excellence Consortium ‘Neuronal circuits in health and disease’:
The brain is the most complex and refined organ of the human body. Therefore, understanding brain function is not only the most challenging scientific challenge for humanity, but also allows the rationalization of consciousness, of the “human self”, performance enhancement, and to develop templates for all those disciplines that use human brains designs. This FWF "Cluster of Excellence" aims to understand how inhibitory neurons, indispensable components of any neuronal network, develop and control circuit operations that underlie behavior. Our symposium will highlight research achievements in developmental neuroscience, neurophysiology, data science, and cognitive neuroscience with disease-relevant end-points.
  • Start of the FWF Emerging Fields Consortium ‘Brain Resilience’:
The mammalian brain develops through complex processes involving thousands of genes and their interaction with the prenatal environment. While genetic mutations can predispose to neurodevelopmental disorders, many individuals remain healthy. Our “Brain Resilience” symposium, which showcases research in this FWF "Emerging Fields" project, will explore how a favorable prenatal environment enhances the adaptive capacity of the brain, overcoming genetic predispositions and supporting healthy brain development.

This exciting one-day program includes also

  • presentations on cutting-edge neuroscience in Austria and beyond,
  • opportunities for young researchers for presentations and interactions,
  • demonstrations by companies,
  • Credit points for graduate students.

Site plan

This Event will take place at the "Historical Lecture Hall" and the "Historical Reading Room" of the The Medical History Museum (Josephinum), Währinger Str. 25, 1090 Vienna.
